A Taste of FOMO

Oh my goodness, FOMO (fear of missing out) is actually a thing!

It was all about the FTSE100, reaching new heights ever, I had a glance at the charts and it was racing up, see the big green candle below. I wanted some of that, it was a little past 08:00, the markets had just opened. I put in a Buy trade (for the minimum size) as fast as I could. And immediately regretted it.

I knew it would go sour. Looking at the previous price action you can see it gets a retrace after a rally, I don’t want to buy at the end of a rally. I waited a short while, heart in mouth, for it to get above break even and then closed the trade for a 9p gain.

I closed it just in time! See what happened at the arrow in the image above. The price eventually got back above my starting level but I would have had to spend a miserable day waiting.

Lesson: don’t rush into trades, don’t be scared to miss out – there’ll always be more opportunities to trade.
